Leda and the Swan
Acrylic on canvas
40″x30″
This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.
Blaue Reiter was a group of Russian and German artists, circa 1911, who revolted against the strict and traditional schools of painting. Here, I took the Expressionist style of the Blaue Reiter, but used a Rubens 16th century Baroque painting as the composition — a nude and a swan. In the original “Leda and the Swan,” the swan is supposed to be Zeus, seducing Leda.
